Independent Materia provide other boosts that can be simple stat increases, or can change the way a character can be used (such as Counter Attack). Each Materia is upgradeable through AP dropped by enemies, upgrading the abilities they provide, or unlocking new ones; once a Materia is mastered, it is duplicated and a new base Materia is created, ready to be equipped and upgraded.

Is this 22-year-old game worth your time? Absolutely. There’s a reason why it’s being re-released for cutting-edge systems, and if you’re willing to engage with its idiosyncrasies, old-school mechanics and graphics, and interface oddities, there’s a frankly wonderful story that will grab you while also allowing you to understand how many other games it has influenced.

Barret Wallace, the leader of AVALANCHE who wields a gun on his right arm in place of his injured hand. Despite his brash and loud-mouthed personality, he is a caring person and loves his daughter Marlene.

The fan-favorite ninja from Wutai makes her way to Midgar for a uniquely dangerous mission: infiltrate the Shinra Building and steal some powerful materia under development inside.

After Cloud had hurled Sephiroth into the Mako pit below the reactor, Sephiroth's body had dissolved into the Lifestream, but his consciousness had been strong enough to remain intact. Sephiroth had thus learned the wisdom of the Cetra from the Lifestream, and begun to construct a new body for himself inside a Materia cocoon at the North Crater.

However, being less blown away by its tricks and effects, the game feels imbalanced today: Strong emphasis on a story - which is told in an incoherent way. Tons of mini-games and short action sequences - but they suffer from clunky controls and often lack balance and pace. An abundance of items, equipment and magic, and an interesting concept of how they interact with each other - yet most of it is utterly useless in battle. Still a great game, but I have to admit that the appeal for me is nostalgia and technical fascination. It does not hold up as well as the older Square greats like FFVI, Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger, which I believe I would enjoy if I played them for the first time today. With FFVII, I am not so sure.

This version was discarded during early testing, as the 2000 polygons needed to render the Behemoth monster placed excessive strain on the Nintendo 64 hardware, causing a low frame rate.[37] It would have required an estimated thirty 64DD discs to run Final Fantasy VII properly with the data compression methods of the day.[42] Faced with both technical and economic issues final fantasy vii on Nintendo's current hardware, and impressed by the increased storage capacity of CD-ROM when compared to the Nintendo 64 cartridge, Square shifted development of Final Fantasy VII, and all other planned projects, onto the PlayStation.[37] The decision stunned the Japanese videogame industry; Square had been so close to Nintendo that when an executive joined Square in 1995, he was told that working for the company was the same as working for Nintendo. Nintendo sold its substantial ownership stake in Square and cut off communications for five years.[43]

HOLY COW. The tone of this game is SHOCKINGLY bizarre. I'm literally astonished Square made this game. The tone of the game is almost a PARODY of Final Fantasy 7. As someone who doesn't love 7, I'm actually alright with the parody tone, but if they took this tone with my beloved seis or 4, I would be very upset and I'm shocked more FF7 fans don't hate this.

We've gotten to see quite a bit of  Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay since it was first announced. With a look during Summer Game Fest 2023 and another helping of action shown off in the September 2023 State of Play showcase, we've seen Cloud and the gang walk through more open environments, as well as mini-games at the Gold Saucer, which you may know is a prominent location in the original game.

i'm not so crazy bout this game, this is the first part that I went through in the whole series, and it turned out to be a remake of a very old game (the game is very good as a remake), but whatever one may say, this is an old game design, where the story is not crazy, fighting the system got boring by the half of the game (by the way, in my understanding the game is very long), and at the same time the side quests are terrible, but the game definitely has its perks.

An unforgettable adventure Explore an expansive world, all brought to life with a new level of graphical fidelity, developed specifically to leverage the power of the PS5 console.

After hearing of a man in a black cape the group follows the rumors to Junon where they are surprised to find Rufus Shinra holding his crowning ceremony. The party disguises as crew members and stows away on the cargo ship bound for the western continent.
